Welcome to our site
Situated in Newtownstewart, Strabane and District Community Network is one of the 12 Rural Support Networks, funded by DARD, who provide a key 'gateway' role as a point of contact for communities, channelling information to and from groups.
As well as giving an insight to the background and work of the Network, this site contains links to information and other sites, which may be of interest to community groups from the Strabane District Council area. What's New

Brenda Devlin took up her post as Community Funding Support Officer with S&DCN Funding Support Programme at the beginning of July 2007. She will be available to signpost and advise community/voluntary groups in the Strabane District on sources of financial support. An outreach service and mentoring programme is also available.

Do you need guidance on relevant funders or application forms, proposals, signposting to grants currently open or closing dates coming up? Funding Support Service Training Workshop - Peace III

This workshop is aimed specifically at those community organisations who are new to applying to European Union Peace funding. The workshop will help participants to understand how they can meet the specific Peace III aim of "Reinforcing progress towards a peaceful and stable society and promoting reconciliation".

Rural Development Programme

At this stage the sixteen social partners have come together to represent the Council areas of Omagh, Strabane, Derry and Limavady along with sixteen Councillors. This Local Action Group has been endorsed by the Joint Committee and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as the LAG to take forward the Rural Development Programme in the North West cluster area.

The next phase of work involves the preparation of the Rural Development Strategy and Action Plan. The strategy has to be submitted to DARD by 31st July 2008.
A strategy Formation Workshop will be held on
Monday 23rd June 2008 at 10 am to 12 noon in the Young Farmer's Hall, Victoria Bridge

A further consultative workshop at which the final draft strategy will be presented will be held in
Alley Arts and Conference Centre, Strabane at 2 pm on Friday 4th July 2008.

Transport Guide - Support for Older People in the West

The Western Area Transport Forum have just published a transport guide giving information on Community Transport Services, Community Car Schemes, Public Transport, Taxis, Patient Transport and other support available for older people in the west. The Network sends a monthly flyer to all the community and voluntary groups within the Strabane area. The flyer updates the community sector on upcoming events, funding opportunities, closing dates and deadlines and other items of interest.
