Group strengthens its role   as            independent voice for patients

Nine months into operation and the Patient and Client Council (PCC) strengthens its role as a powerful, independent voice for patients.  Members of the public have recently been selected and approved by the PCC Board onto the Western Local Advisory Committee (LAC).

This committee will ensure insight into local health and social care issues, including concerns and priorities for individuals and communities.

In total five committees have been established co-
terminus with the five health and social care trusts.
Each will be chaired by a member of the PCC
Board.  To allow for capture of the diverse needs
within a local area, the LAC can co-op additional
members on specific issues.  The establishment of
such committees will support the PCC in having an
informed and active local presence.

It is anticipated that the first meeting for each Local
Advisory Committee will be held in February 2010.
